July 2025

North Canterbury Netball Centre has so much to celebrate as we approach the business end of the Winter Netball Season!

Representatives

Field Days

The sunshine joined our representative teams and supporters at the annual Field Days competition hosted by Selwyn this year. North Canterbury displayed some exceptional netball and competed well against Hurunui and Selwyn teams.

North Canterbury came away with the Audrey Styles Shield for the Centre with the best points average over all grades.

Our Under 18s continued to build on their success as a unit and won the Canterbury Country Field Day Trophy.

Our Senior team won the Forscutt Cup trophy, performing exceptionally well with some last minute players joining the team.

Congratulations to all participants and to Selwyn Netball Centre for hosting a successful event.

 Under 18s

Our under 18 representative team has had an action packed season so far and made the most of an opportunity to compete with a visiting team from Australia. Wenona school, based in Sydney, showcased their technical skills and forced North Canterbury to adapt defensively throughout the game held at Marian College. North Canterbury came away with the win and enjoyed hearing about the tour of the South Island Wenona had ahead of them. We look forward to coming together again in the future.

The team, management and elected umpire travelled to Auckland to compete in the Netball New Zealand Under 18 Championships, placing 20th overall. This campaign requires athletes to come together to demonstrate their physical and mental endurance and our Under 18s did this remarkably well.

Rosebowl

The annual Hurunui and North Canterbury competition for the Rosebowl Trophies took place on the 27th of July.

North Canterbury junior and senior representative teams came away with the win!

Ohoka Future Ferns 1 represented NCNC in the junior game, winning 28 - 17 to Hurunui. Isabella Forrester, our patron, was unable to attend but her daughter Kay presented the Junior Rosebowl Trophy on her behalf.

Julia from Hurunui presented the Shadbolt Rosebowl Trophy on behalf of the Dawn Addis family to the North Canterbury Netball Senior team who won 47 - 9.

Congratulations to all participants and thank you to the Hurunui teams and umpires who travelled to compete!

  Lindsay Cup and Forrester Trophy

Our final representative fixture for the 2025 season!

Make a day of it and come and support our Under 16s and Senior teams as they compete against Selwyn at the West Melton Community Centre on Sunday 3rd August.  Under 16 game starts at 11am and Seniors start at 12:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Thank you to friends and family who have travelled and plan to travel to support our players and management, your time and effort does not go unnoticed. Thank you also to our umpires who have travelled and support our netball community, you are wonderful.
