NCNC follow the rules as set out in the Netball NZ Junior Policy:
All boys may play Netball alongside girls up to the age of 12 without restriction.

Year 7 and 8 boys who are over the age of 12 years may continue to play Netball at the discretion of the Netball Centre. NNZ recommends a maximum of three boys playing on court at any one time, one in each third.


Males Under 18 Years Old and/or attending High School

  • Must be Under 18 as at 1st January and/or attending High School.
  • Must be graded in a team of the appropriate level and ability of their play.
  • Players must wear an approved club uniform. Clubs must register a male uniform to be approved by North Canterbury Management.
  • Up to TWO males per team are permitted on court at any time and only one male may play within each third:
    1 Attack - 1 male in positions GS or GA
    1 Mid Court - 1 male in positions, WA or C or WD
    ​​​​​​​1 Defence - 1 male in position GD or GK
